Tribute to the Founder

Thomas V. Giles, deceased, September 27, 2016, founded The Giles Law Firm in 1974 because of his passion for the law and his desire to help people.

Thomas V. Giles earned his bachelor's degree in 1959 from College of the Holy Cross College in Worcester, MA. Following college, he served in the United States Navy for 3 years, where he learned the value of hard work and discipline. He obtained his law degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 1965. Following law school, he worked as an attorney for the Detroit law firm of Berry, Moorman, King and Canfield, where he gained invaluable legal experience that empowered him to start his own law practice. He was a successful lawyer and business owner, who had a work ethic that was beyond reproach.

Thomas V. Giles will be remembered for his unique ability to patiently engage clients in order to creatively solve their problems or carry out their wishes in a pragmatic manner. He was a zealous advocate and thoughtful advisor, recognized by his peers as a hardworking, dedicated and intelligent lawyer. His family will remember him as a husband and father, who loved life and loved to teach and mentor his children. He had a great love for golf, family vacations and entertaining.

Education and learning were very important to Thomas as a professional, a father, and an individual. He never stopped learning or teaching, which made him an exceptional legal advisor for more than three decades.
